Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola today comes up with fresh updates on the talks between Chelsea and Palmeiras for the transfer of Andrey Santos.
With the player not getting a work permit for the Premier League, the clubs are currently discussing the loan deal which will bring him back to Brazil for a while.
According to Nicola, Chelsea and Palmeiras already have an agreement regarding the formula.
Andrey is set to join the Verdão on a loan until the end of the year, but in case he’s granted a visa in the summer, then the Blues can bring him back to London by paying a €1.5m fee.
The problem has been that the Stamford Bridge side want the midfielder to take part in the U-20 World Cup in May and June. The Brazilian club don’t want that, as he may end up leaving in the summer, and that’s what is blocking the deal for now.
However, speaking to one of Andrey’s representatives, Jorge Nicola was told that all parties, including Chelsea, are getting closer to a deal.
“It wasn’t closed yet. We’re trying to accommodate the demands. But Chelsea are giving in. I think it will close, but it’s still early to confirm”. said Nicola’s source.
