Chelsea looked at Erling Haaland prior to investing over €100m in signing Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan last August.
Thomas Tuchel earlier confirmed the Borussia Dortmund star was the topic of discussion in the last window and also joked about the 21-year-old playing alongside Lukaku at Stamford Bridge.
Last week, an interview was released by Sky Italia showing the player claiming he is not happy at the west London club, leading him to be subsequently dropped for the league tie against Liverpool. He returned to the squad to face Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, after issuing an apology.
The ex-Everton man has seven goals and two assists in 19 matches in all competitions. He went without scoring a goal in the Premier League for three months, before netting twice in the last two outings.
The Blues will have to look for a new striker if they part ways with the 28-year-old. His transfer would depend on how he fares from now until the end of the season. Sky say the latest situation around Lukaku ‘should benefit Haaland’.
“Because of all these incidents and because Lukaku is not yet firing, Haaland is an issue again. Haaland can also imagine Chelsea. Actually, he wants to go to Spain, […] but Chelsea could be a topic. Lukaku is still there,” Sky Transfer expert Marc Behrenbeck said.
Chelsea could ‘get involved again’ for Haaland depending on how the situation around Lukaku will evolve in the coming months. The Blues can be one of the options for the BVB striker, but Sky add ‘nothing has been yet decided’ on the Norway international’s future.
