Chelsea’s faith in youngster Kendry Páez is so high they’ve handed him ‘a fortune’ on the salary front to lure him to Stamford Bridge.
That’s at least according to Bolavip, who say the 17-year-old will be earning a small fortune when he arrives at Chelsea next year.
They report that while Chelsea have not made any sums official, they have been able to learn that Páez will earn a sum close to $2.5m a year when he moves to Chelsea next year.
That means the Ecuadorian talent will earn around $200,000 per month, a gigantic leap from the $3,000-5,000 that he currently earns at Independiente del Valle.
Such a sum would also mean he would receive a higher salary than current Chelsea stars Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher, although both are set to receive new contracts this summer after their performances this season.
To put the wage packet in context, Bolavip point out that Endrick, the Brazilian youngster set to join Real Madrid this summer, will earn $3m a year in the Spanish capital once he moves there.
We’re sure Todd Boehly and co will use that and insist they’re actually getting a bargain, but on the flip side, Palmer’s agent certainly needs to be holding some calls about his client in the coming weeks.
Either way, what it does show is Chelsea’s faith in Páez, who will need to hit the ground running when he does arrive to justify this money and the hype that’s been building for the best part of the last year.
