Antonio Conte is expected to sign a few players following Chelsea’s 10th position finish in the Premier League last season.
The London club have already spent big money on Michy Batshuayi and N’Golo Kante, and reports continue to link them to several other players.
According to Romanian journalist Emanuel Roşu, Chelsea are keeping close tabs on Steaua București star Nicolae Stanciu.
The 23-year-old was on the score sheet in Steaua București’s Champions League qualification game against Sparta Praha last week that ended 1-1, whilst he scored both the goals last night in a 2-0 win.
The Romanian international had 14 goals and 11 assists to his name last season, and has also scored 4 goals in 7 international appearances this year.
Stanciu is primarily a central attacking midfielder, but can play on either wing, and has a contract until 2021 at the Romanian club.
Just last month, Stancio was strongly linked to Southampton in the Romanian media. George Becali, Steaua’s owner said the player could go for around €6m.
Southampton were keeping an eye on the situation and if that was true then they’ll surely be aware of any Chelsea developments. The player’s recent goals give every encouragement to this interest, and come at the perfect time.
