Emerson Palmieri’s ‘intermediaries’ will travel to Naples today to try and arrange a move to Napoli.
That’s according to Corriere del Mezzogiorno, who say there is still no agreement in place with Chelsea about a potential move.
The Blues left-back has been linked with a return to Italy this summer, particularly after Ben Chilwell’s arrival in a big-money move from Leicester City.
Inter are known to be keen on his signature, but Napoli have also been named as suitors, despite his agent insisting there has been no contact with the Serie A side about a move.
The newspaper says that the Chelsea full-back is currently asking for €4m per-year, but Napoli are proposing a salary of €2.5m per-year, hence the need for discussions.
Napoli also need to work out a deal with Chelsea as Gennaro Gattuso’s side want a loan deal with a right to buy, but the Blues ‘must be convinced’ on that front, the suggestion being they would much prefer a permanent sale.
That would make sense given Emerson is very much a saleable asset and would help them to start working at balancing the books following their massive spend in this transfer window thus far.
Either way, it seems a move is definitely being worked on by both clubs, with the defender likely to be one of several to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
