The potential arrival of Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea has caused the Italian media to go into overdrive with the rumours, and one of his alleged targets should he replace Antonio Conte is Juventus’ Daniele Rugani.
The 23-year-old featured 22 times in Max Allegri’s league side last season, facing competition from the likes of Mehdi Benatia, Andrea Barzagli and Georgio Chiellini.
Juventus are said to be open to a sale, but only at the right price, which they believe is around €40m.
Corriere dello Sport on Wednesday explain the Serie A champions have managed to extract that offer from Chelsea for the young defender, but it hasn’t been accepted yet.
The Italian side are said to be willing to do so with the insertion of a few more bonuses, but it appears everything is heading in the right direction.
It’ll be interesting to see where this leads, as Il Mattino on Wednesday claimed the situation with Maurizio Sarri wasn’t all that great, with a chance Chelsea could stick with Antonio Conte for an extra year.
If that’s the case, will Rugani be signed? Will the Italian manager want a player he didn’t ask for?
