Chelsea tried signing AC Milan star Rafael Leão towards the end of last summer window.

The Serie A side turned down the proposal sent by the Blues for the 23-year-old and this was confirmed by theur chief, Paolo Maldini, last September.

Chelsea were willing to invest €120m to secure the forward’s services last summer, and made an offer of that amount, but it was rejected by the Italian champions. This is again highlighted by Tuttosport, relayed by Napoli Magazine, who then provide more updates on his contract situation.

It’s claimed several Milan players have seen their valuation drop this season and Leão’s name is included in the list. His deal lasts until 2024 and the Rossoneri leaders have publicly stated on numerous occasions about their desire to tie him down to a new deal.

The Portugal international’s current valuation is below €100m and there’s still no certainty he will sign an extension. It’s explained his sale could help Milan collect a fee of around €70-80m.

If Chelsea are still keen to secure Leão’s services in the next window, they would be in line to receive a big discount of €40-50m.

Leão has managed nine goals and 10 assists from 35 games this season.
