As you might have heard over the past few days, Chelsea are trying to sign Benoit Badiashile from AS Monaco in January.
Reports from France on Wednesday claimed that the Blues were the only club out of all the interested parties to have made a concrete offer for the centre-back, and that gave them an advantage.
Well, according to Foot Mercato, things are going well, and the website start off their article on the subject by stating Chelsea are ‘confident’ about signing the defender.
While it’s made clear that ‘not everything is finalised between the various parties’ at the time the article was written, the whole affair is ‘moving along well’.
Badiashile is said to be ‘seduced’ by Chelsea’s project, and sources close to the Blues have told them that everything is ‘going very well’.
Should the player sign for the Stamford Bridge side, it would be a ‘long’ contract, but those in talks aren’t quite at that stage yet, ‘with a few details left’.
Still, the belief is that it could all get sorted out with a ‘cheque nearing €40m’, making Badiashile a relatively cheap acquisition and a long-term option for Graham Potter and Todd Boehly.
