Chelsea have reignited their interest in striker Elye Wahi, although they are yet to make an official offer for him.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who report that Chelsea have ‘come forward again in recent days’ to enquire about the feasibility of a move for the striker.
The newspaper reports that Wahi is a candidate to leave Lens this summer and is still waiting to discover whether he will depart or stay at the French club.
If it is to be the former, at least two clubs have come forward for him, and Chelsea are one of them. They expressed an interest last summer and have now revived it.
At this point they’ve only come forwards to ‘find out the feasibility’ of a potential deal and are simply wanting to discover at what price the door could be opened.
The other, unnamed club have come closer and moved more concretely in recent days but there is no indication of whether they’ve made a bid either. Their interest just appears to be more solid than Chelsea’s.
With Lens and the player’s entourage having jointly decided to open the door to a departure at the start of the window, though, there is the possibility of a deal being done and it seems Chelsea have gone as far as to ask for information on the matter.
