Sporting have really given up on signing Eduardo from Dinamo Zagreb. They will have now to go after another goalkeeper, and according to the Portuguese press, it’s all Chelsea’s fault.
The Lions were close on agreeing a deal with the goalkeeper, but Chelsea’s last minute approach is what changed it all.
With one year left in contract, Eduardo reached an agreement with Dinamo to be released if he helped the club to qualify for the Champions League group stage. They did it on Tuesday, so his departure will be easier now.
According to Friday’s edition of O Jogo, Sporting were going to pay Dinamo Zagreb €200k for the transfer, and Eduardo would reduce his salary to make €700k per season at the Portuguese club. But Chelsea’s offer is said to be far more convincing.
Diário de Notícias still keep the strongest claims, like they did yesterday. They now say the transfer could be announced on Friday. Eduardo, is reportedly wanted by Antonio Conte as an alternative for the “irreplaceable Thibaut Courtois”.
