Chelsea invested heavily in the summer window and their new owner, Todd Boehly, acted as the club’s interim director of football.
The American billionaire has been at work to bring in a candidate to take charge of the west London club’s sporting project.
For the past few weeks, Chelsea have been credited with an interest in a few candidates. Recent reports in the English press have mentioned Bayer Leverkusen chief Tim Steidten.
These claims have reached Germany, with Sky Deutschland providing their information on this case. The Blues have set their sights on the Bundesliga, where Steidten has emerged as a candidate.
It’s claimed the 43-year-old would ‘fit in very well’ at Chelsea, if Boehly decides to make him the club’s new sporting director. The report adds ‘there was already contact’ with the German.
Steidten had earlier held talks with the Premier League side in the summer window, when Leverkusen signed Callum Hudson-Odoi on loan. This is when Chelsea were able to get an idea of his methods, and their ‘interest was aroused’.
Sky explain the German club have so far not commented on the recent claims of Chelsea setting their sights on Steidten.
