Napoli are again showing an interest in Bologna midfielder Amadou Diawara, according to claims in the Italian media. The Serie A side have been linked with the 19-year-old in the past, but with the recent transfer funds received from the sale of Gonzalo Higuaín to Juventus they hope to add to the squad before the transfer deadline.
TMW have revealed Napoli are keen to strengthen in attack and defence this month, but also at the same time bring in two midfielders, so everywhere really. One central midfielder high on their list is Diawara, and yesterday they re-joined the race to sign the Bologna star.
Napoli will be confident they can meet Bologna’s valuation of the player, but will face competition from AS Roma, and more surprisingly Aston Villa.
Yesterday we covered reports from it Italy that Aston Villa had tabled a bid of £14.5m to sign Diawara despite dropping down to the Championship. The young midfielder was in impressive form in his debut season in Serie A, and was one of Bologna’s stand players.
However, there are reports Diawara wants to remain in Italy at this stage of his career, which makes Napoli and Roma favourites to land him.
