Following initial reports from the Scottish media saying Celtic are interested in Grêmio winger Ferreirinha, it’s time for the Brazilian press to confirm the news.
Outlet Premier League Brasil today features a story claiming Brendan Rodgers’ side indeed have the 25-year-old on their ‘wish list’.
The website claims to have ‘confirmed’ that Celtic want Ferreirinha, and learned that the player himself sees the move to Europe ‘with good eyes’.
Still, there’s some concern regarding a potential agreement between the two clubs. It’s said Grêmio won’t let the player go for less than €5m, and the Scottish side aren’t used to make big investments.
What could apparently unblock this situation is the transfer of Jota to Al-Ittihad. That means Celtic are in need of a replacement and have €25m in cash to possibly invest.
Premier League Brasil also points out that Ferreirinha’s entourage have a ‘good relationship’ with Brendan Rodgers. It’s said they know each other back from their client Tetê was signed by Leicester City in 2022.
The story also highlights that the winger has been struggling with injuries lately, with only 15 matches played this year, and that’s why Grêmio wouldn’t make a huge effort to hold onto him.
