In search of a right-back, Celtic turned their attention to Stade Rennais in France where two young players were seemingly available.
Those were Brandon Soppy (19) and Sacha Boey (20), with the latter spending last season on loan at Dijon in the same league.
Negotiations were said to have started between the Parkhead side and their French counterparts for the older of the two last week, but it appears very little came from them.
That’s according to Benjamin Quarez, a journalist for Le Parisien, who explains that talks between the two sides ‘haven’t moved forward’.
(2/2) 🔴⚫️

This suggests that Ange Postecoglou’s side will need to look elsewhere to bolster their defence going forward, and that could be Soppy, although the reporter didn’t have any update on the 19-year-old and Celtic’s interest in him.
We’ll have to wait and see, as talks can always be resumed, but, for now, the Boey route appears somewhat blocked for the Scottish Premier League side.
