Kristoffer Ajer moved to Celtic in 2016 and was the only Norwegian in the squad until Mohamed Elyounoussi arrived on loan from Southampton in the last few days of the European window.
Speaking to TV2 last week, the centre-back explained how delighted he is to have his compatriot as his teammate at Celtic Park and also went on to explain how he and the Saints owned player are fined by Scott Brown for talking in Norwegian.
In the ongoing international break, another outlet Dagbladet also got an opportunity to talk to Ajer, where he explains of being left surprised after Elyounoussi joined the Scottish champions.
“That’s great fun. It was surprising when he signed, because I hadn’t heard anything about it. But when he came it was amazing. We hang together a lot in our free time and everything, so it was very nice,” the Celtic star said.
Dagbladet further questioned Ajer as to why he thinks Elyounoussi never contacted him before joining Celtic, he responded: “I think it is that when you are in a transfer window in that way, a lot of special things can happen. There were probably some other clubs that were also interested.”
“So maybe it wasn’t quite decided that it was Celtic until the last second, so it was certainly natural.”
Ajer’s clearly mentioned that he spends more time with Elyounoussi now, but the latter has also explained some of the tips he has received from the Celtic defender.
“He has been there for a while and can tell me where not to go downtown, where there are Rangers supporters. When you’re new, there are some places you shouldn’t go to,” Elyounoussi stressed.
