Celtic star Moussa Dembele has been named as one of the world’s future ‘cracks’ by the Chilean version of AS newspaper. Dembele has been chosen alongside 11 other top young players in a selection which is supposed to represent the very best of tomorrow’s footballers.

Players like Kylian Mbappe, Youri Tielemans and Gabriel Jesus have also found their way in, and these, like Celtic’s Dembele, are young players who are not only the future but also the present.

In Spain the word ‘crack’ is used to describe a genuine star of football, the real deal. Barcelona and Real Madrid players often refer to their teammates as cracks, and it’s a compliment to be labelled as such.

Dembele has continued to blossom since moving to Celtic Park and starting to work with Brendan Rodgers. The Celtic manager has clearly had an influence on the player and that helped the Scottish Premiership club hold on to Dembele during the January transfer window.

The young Frenchman isn’t going to stay at Celtic forever, but perhaps the ‘crack’ can continue for another year so Rodgers can continue with his work.
