On Wednesday, Celtic suffered a 2-1 loss to Lazio in the Champions League, despite taking the lead at Celtic Park.
Matías Vecino scored the equaliser for the visitors in the 29th minute after Kyogo Furuhashi gave an early lead to Brendan Rodgers’ side. It was Pedro’s late goal that proved to be the difference between the Serie A side and Celtic.
Gazzetta dello Sport name Celtic’s Liam Scales as ‘the worst’ player after his side’s defeat and they gave him the lowest rating of 4.5/10.
The newspaper was critical of his display, especially in the buildup to the Italian club’s first goal. Alessio Romagnoli headed the corner before Vecino, who was inside the six-yard box, converted it into a goal.
Gazzetta say the 25-year-old defender didn’t do enough to stop Romagnoli and further state he was ‘uncertain, not reactive’, against Lazio.
The newspaper named Reo Hatate as Celtic’s ‘best’ player yesterday and that’s because they believe he ‘produced an almost perfect performance’ and did enough to create pressure for Lazio players. The 25-year-old was given a rating of 7/10.
Gazzetta weren’t really impressed with Lazio’s performance either, so it’s not just Celtic players they picked out.
