Red Bull Salzburg boss Jesse Marsch will not be joining Celtic as the replacement for Neil Lennon.

That’s according to SportBILD journalist Christian Falk, who says he has ‘received the confirmation’ that Marsch will not be making the move to Scotland.

Celtic are on the hunt for their new manager after Lennon left his position at the end of February following a miserable campaign.

Marsch had been named as one of the potential replacements, having impressed with Austrian side RB Salzburg since joining them in 2019.

Indeed, he had admitted that the Celtic links were ‘interesting’ and an ‘honour’ for him when questioned this week, with bookmakers installing him as the fourth favourite for the job behind the likes of Chris Wilder, John Kennedy and Roy Keane.

It seems he can now be ruled out, though, with Falk insisting that he ‘won’t join’ Celtic at any point, having previously claimed he wants a bigger step up than the move to Scotland.

Falk doesn’t provide any context as to why he won’t be making the move, just that he has ‘received the confirmation’ it won’t be happening.

That would seemingly rule Marsch out of the Celtic running for now, although things can always change quickly on the managerial merry-go-round.
