Five days ago, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio stated Atalanta had made a third bid, this time worth €17m, to sign Celtic’s Matt O’Riley. The Serie A side have been chasing the midfielder all summer, and are trying to find an agreement with Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The Denmark international impressed for Celtic last season, managing 19 goals and 18 assists from 49 games. This has convinced La Dea to bet on him, and they’ve already made multiple offers.
Gianluca Di Marzio now claims Celtic have rejected Atalanta’s third offer of €17m for the 23-year-old.
He says Brendan Rodgers’ side ‘do not consider the offer still valid’, to sanction the Dane’s sale this summer, and the ‘tug-of-war continues’ between the Scottish champions and Atalanta.
Sky Italia also state the latest offer from Gian Piero Gasperini’s side has ‘not convinced’ Celtic, who are ‘still asking’ for €25m to sanction the player’s sale in this window.
It’s down to Atalanta to decide whether to meet Celtic’s request or walk away from the deal.
As well as the Europa League winners, Southampton are keen on the Celtic star. Three days ago, TuttoMercatoWeb said the Saints have made a concrete attempt to sign O’Riley.
