During the January transfer window, the British press had linked Celtic with a move for Slovan Bratislava’s David Strelec.
There were suggestions of a rejected approach from the Hoops, who had faced the forward during their Champions League clash against the Slovakian earlier this season.
Tuttomercatoweb today have added some detail to Celtic’s chase of Strelec and they state that Brendan Rodgers’ side had indeed asked for information for the 24-year-old during the winter transfer window, even if no formal offer was made.
Slovan had, in response, issued a rather ‘simple’ response and they informed the Glasgow club that their player wasn’t on the market until the summer transfer window.
The report believes that more offers can arrive for Strelec in the summer and they would be in a better position to assess his value and abilities then.
TMW are confident that the player’s current valuation is between €5m and €7m and the idea of a Celtic move is encouraged, as Strelec continues to impress for his club.
This season, he has scored 17 times in all competitions and has racked up seven assists, finding the back of the net twice in the Champions league as well.
