Los Angeles FC’s Kwadwo Opoku has ended up in the sights of several European clubs and this includes Celtic and Rangers, according to Fussball Transfers.

Having won all the domestic competitions last season, Celtic saw their manager Ange Postecoglou move to Tottenham Hotspur. Rangers would be aiming to improve things next season under Michael Beale’s orders.

To do this, Rangers would need to make new signings. The report states both Celtic and Beale’s side have the 21-year-old in their summer target list.

VfB Stuttgart have been scouting the forward for a year and made contact with him only on Wednesday. They haven’t tabled an offer yet and signing him won’t be cheap. FT state the MLS side are aiming to collect around €3.7-4.8m for him.

The Ghanaian’s deal expires at the end of this year and Los Angeles FC can unilaterally extend it until December 2024. Therefore, they are not under pressure to sell him.

It’s stated Stuttgart will face ‘great’ competition to sign Opoku as OGC Nice and Bordeaux have already made contacts. In addition to this, both Celtic and Rangers have ‘signalled interest’ in signing the player.

Time will tell whether Celtic or Rangers will convert their interest into an offer to try to bring Opoku to Celtic Park or Ibrox in the summer.
