On September 13th, Sport reported that Ajax’s Frenkie de Jong is a ‘priority’ target for Barcelona and the leaders of the club have already been ‘seduced’ by the idea of the midfielder playing for the Blaugrana.
Mundo Deportivo now mention his ability of to play more than one position and look at how well the Dutchman can fit into the Catalan club’s style of play, if he joins them.
Erik ten Hag partnered the 21-year-old with Daley Blind in the heart of the back four and he impressed while playing as a centre-back in his side’s latest win in the Champions League.
The Dutchman’s preferred position is in the centre of the pitch and he can play anywhere in the midfield.

It’s also claimed that De Jong can eliminate a threat from rival players while playing from the back. He can do so by using his pace to beat the opponent or by finding his teammate when the opposition player tries to put more pressure on him by getting close to him.
The report suggests the Netherlands international can be a player who can be used in three different positions and he is ‘gifted’ to play at the highest level in any position he has been deployed.
Even though the player was nervous as there was no communication between the club and his camp for six weeks, the Spanish champions have still maintained their interest in him.
