On Sunday, Tottenham piled the misery on Chelsea and Graham Potter, as the north London side, managed for now by Cristian Stellini, beat the Blues 2-0.
This meant yet another game without a victory for the Stamford Bridge side, who have struggled to get any kind of form together since the start of the season and their huge spending under Todd Boehly.
While Potter might still have the faith of the squad, it remains to be seen how much patience the American owner has, as results are key in football, and Chelsea aren’t producing any at the moment.
That’s why there has been a lot of talk of a potential second change of manager this season following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel, with a few names flying around.
One that keeps popping up is José Mourinho, who knows Stamford Bridge really well from two previous spells there, but whether that’s something Boehly is considering remains to be seen.
That being said, there is one man in Italy who believes the Portuguese would be keen on another return to Chelsea, and that’s Antonio Cassano, who brought it up while discussing the future of Simone Inzaghi at Inter.
He explained on Bobo TV, relayed by Calciomercato.it: “If Inzaghi were to be fired, I would rule out the return of José Mourinho. If an offer from the Premier League were to arrive, the Special One would choose England. The fans fell in love with his attitude (in Italy), but he intends to leave, and for me, he can only go back to Chelsea.”
