West Ham United fullback Emerson Palmieri could head back to AS Roma, according to today’s reports from Italy.
That’s claimed by outlet Il Romanista, who details the Giallorossi’s need for a new left-back for the next season.
Leonardo Spinazzola, who’s targeted by Saudi clubs, is expected to leave Roma as a free agent next summer, and that’ll require a move from the Serie A side.
That’s where Palmieri shows up, with the report claiming that the West Ham player would be ‘happy’ to return to the Italian club, after emerging there as a player, which eventually led to his first transfer to the Premier League.
It’s said ‘he can come back’ especially and that would help Roma get this ‘surprise’ transfer.
Palmieri has 29 appearances for West Ham this season, being a regular starter, and that’s why this all seems a bit odd, since David Moyes clearly has a lot of faith in him at London Stadium.
It’s therefore unlikely that the Hammers would make his departure easy, as he has a contract running until 2026, with an option for an extra year.
