On August 9th, Bild reported Burnley manager Vincent Kompany definitely wants to sign Hertha Berlin star Dodi Lukebakio this summer.

Two days later, journalist Sacha Tavolieri stated the Clarets have proposed €11m plus €2m in bonuses and the German club are waiting for the striker’s final decision to accept the bid. He also said the 25-year-old is likely to accept a move to Turf Moor.

There’s a new twist in this saga. Sport1 chief reporter Patrick Berger took to Twitter to state the player’s move to Burnley is on the verge of collapsing.

That’s because the Belgium international has ‘turned down the proposal’ made by Burnley as he’s ‘not 100% convinced’ of joining the Premier League side.

This is a ‘difficult situation’, especially for Burnley, who could potentially see the attacker move to Sevilla. The journalist states the La Liga side are in the picture to hijack the deal for Lukebakio.

The Belgian scored 12 goals and registered five assists from 33 games last season, where his club were relegated from the Bundesliga. After rejecting Burnley’s offer, Lukebakio will have to find a new club, if he’s keen to leave Hertha.
