Burnley made a fresh offer for the signing of Anderlecht goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, according to claims from Belgium.
Nieuwsblad today writes that the Clarets showed up with a new attempt to sign the player, this time with a €15m bid.
That amount, however, wasn’t enough for a deal with Anderlecht yet. It’s said the request is for €20m, and they made Burnley a counter-offer.
The report claims that there are ‘very high’ chances those figures will be ‘pushed harder’ in the coming days, so that doesn’t look like a big setback in the Clarets’ pursuit.
It’s recalled that Burnley’s interest in signing Verbruggen from Anderlecht dates back to the last summer, when the English club tried to buy him for only €5m.
The Belgium side turned down that offer and it looks like the right decision, as they’re now pushing to get a transfer for several times more.
With Burnley now promoted to the Premier League and with a bigger budget in their hands, that seems to be the prefect opportunity for the clubs to finally get to a deal.
According to Nieuwsblad, the goalkeeper’s future ‘undoubtedly lies in England’.
