Burnley have decided against a potential investment in Belgian side KV Kortrijk and will instead be spending the money on improving Vincent Kompany’s squad for the Premier League.
That’s according to Het Nieuwsblad, who say Burnley visited the club before considering a bid to buy them from Vincent Tan.
Last week we covered a report that stated Burnley and Bournemouth had seen bids to buy Kortrijk rejected by Tan, who has increased his demands for the club despite a desire to sell and move on.
Het Nieuwsblad pick up on that and confirm that both clubs had actually visited the club to analyse the situation and what they would be buying if they were to get a deal over the line.
Bournemouth eventually pulled out because they weren’t interested in the infrastructure while Burnley’s interest ‘also cooled’, albeit for different reasons.
In their case, negotiations proved to be ‘too difficult’ and, according to the newspaper’s information, they also lost interest because the price was pushed up.
When that happened Burnley decided to pull out and instead made the decision to ‘invest’ the funds they would have used to bolster Vincent Kompany’s squad after their return to the Premier League.
We’re sure that’ll go down well with the fanbase, who will now be keen to see who the funds are spent on as they plan for life back in the top flight next season.
