RC Strasbourg have jumped ahead of the likes of Brighton, Brentford and West Ham United in the race for Burnley’s CJ Egan-Riley.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who report that the Burnley man has been offered a contract by the French side ahead of becoming a free agent in the summer.
The newspaper explains that the race is on for Egan-Riley’s signature after he was named among the ‘three revelations’ in the Championship this summer. Jobe Bellingham came out on top in that particular contest.
The 22-year-old defender appears set to leave Turf Moor despite a great season with Burnley that’s seen them return to the Premier League and clubs such as Brighton, Brentford and West Ham are attentive to him.
However, Strasbourg all stole a march on them in the January transfer window, offering a five-year deal an da ‘strong signing bonus’ to the Burnley man.
Egan-Riley is believed to be open to the idea because of that, the project which has been presented to him and the important role that would wait him as Strasbourg are facing departures in their defensive department.
Thus, the French side are currently ahead of Brighton, Brentford and West Ham, although the race is far from over.
