Roy Hodgson has the services of summer signing Jordan Ayew, Christian Benteke and Connor Wickham as the three strikers in his Crystal Palace squad.

Wickham and Benteke have struggled for regular minutes and have collectively scored two goals in all competitions since the start of last season. The duo’s contracts at Selhurst Park expire in 2021.

Earlier reports from Italy have talked about interest in Inter Milan’s Gabriel Barbosa, who is likely to join Flamengo on a permanent deal, unless a big European club shows up.

The Premier League side are also looking at other players and Calciomercato claims Palace ‘observe’ Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst. The Dutchman joined the Bundesliga side in 2018 and ended up scoring 17 goals in the league in his debut season.

Wolfsburg offered him a new contract in the summer and the 27-year-old has repaid the club with fine performances this season, scoring eight goals and registering three assists in all competitions.

The report only states Weghorst is ‘followed’ by Palace, without providing further details.

It’s no surprise the London based club are looking to strengthen their attacking division, but it remains to be seen if Weghorst is the right candidate to bolster Palace’s squad.
