Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has joked the club have kept their promises better than his former club Bayern Munich did.

The Dutchman has been speaking to ViaPlay in the Netherlands, relayed by Kicker, about his move to Liverpool in the summer and how it is going for him at Anfield so far.

He joined the Reds in a €40m deal from Bayern in the summer after a frustrated year at the German champions following a move from Ajax for €18.5m the year before.

He’s had a slow start to life on Merseyside side, making 16 appearances in the Premier League to date but featuring in just 38% of the available minutes.

Indeed, across all competitions he’s made 28 appearances in total but only featured in 1350 minutes, largely playing a substitutes role under Jurgen Klopp to date.

That’s a significant improvement already on what he managed at Bayern last year, where he totalled 937 minutes in 33 appearances in total last year.

And it seems he’s happy with that, jokingly admitting that Liverpool have at least kept their promises better than the German champions managed to do.

“They wanted to build me up slowly, but I would get my chances,” he said.

“That was the most important thing I wanted. I got the minutes I was expecting.

“Actually, yes,” he added, jokingly, when asked whether Klopp had kept his promises better than those in charge at Bayern.
