Bruno Lage could soon get a fresh chance to take his first job after his exit from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
As reported by Brazilian outlet Extra, the coach is wanted by Botafogo, who even made initial contacts for his signing.
The Rio de Janeiro club already have a Portuguese manager in charge, and that’s Luis Castro. But that may not last long, because he has a bid from Al-Nassr on the table.
Local stories say it’s Cristiano Ronaldo who wants him at the Saudi club, and as Botafogo get worried about the situation, they went after the former Wolves boss.
The Brazilian side are said to have made an approach, and things are in the very initial stages. They want to understand whether Lage would accept moving to South America for the job.
One of the factors for the interest is that Lage is said to have an ‘attacking DNA’ that would suit the club well. Then there’s the fact he trained and faced some of the players in the squad.
The Botafogo player who worked with Lage at Wolves is Fernando Marçal. He left for the Rio de Janeiro club last summer, and could be useful for the coach’s arrival.
Lage has been unemployed since leaving Molineux in October. Now for that official invite to happen, Castro needs to accept the offer from Al-Nassr.
