Brighton & Hove Albion’s interest in Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi is today highlighted by the Italian media.
Outlet TuttoMercatoWeb features a story pointing out that after being disputed in the summer window, there should be another battle for his signing in the January market.
It’s claimed there’s a ‘strong interest’ from Brighton, who have already been linked to him a couple of months ago.
The problem in the Seagulls’ chase is that Frattesi actually has a ‘preference’ for the Italian league.
That’s why Roma, who are also in the race, could turn to offer a fierce competition for the signing.
Another advantage Roma could have is that they were the club who sold the midfielder to Sassuolo back in 2017, and since they have 30% of a future sale, that could be discounted in case they do go for his signing.
TuttoMercatoWeb claims Sassuolo demanded €30m for the player in the summer, but his price actually had a drop since then.
So we now shall see if Brighton could have convincing arguments to beat Roma for his signing.
