With his great performances in the Premier League over the past couple of years, it’s surprising to see Leandro Trossard still at Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Belgium international was shining under Graham Potter and has continued to do with Roberto De Zerbi now at the helm, which has led to bigger clubs taking an eye at him.

The logical next step, which has already been discussed in the media, would be to reunite with his former manager at Chelsea, but they aren’t the only ones keen on the Brighton star.

Regardless, there are some in the player’s home country who want to see him move onto the next level, with it clear he has the ability to shine beyond the Amex Stadium.

One of those is Belgian footballer Cécile de Gernier, who was speaking to RTBF about her compatriot.

She said on the La Tribune show: “He should be playing in a club that evolves a bit more in the public eye, and he would probably be 100% a starter.”

This was backed up by former footballer Nordin Jbari, who added: “When you play in a big club, it’s more glamorous. You get noticed more. He’s already in a very good position in the national team. With the current injuries, he’s one tad closer to starting.”

Most players who have scored six goals and assisted another two for their Premier League club wouldn’t have this issue, but it’s well known that Roberto Martinez has a special affinity for Eden Hazard, which is why there are some wondering whether the Brighton star will have a big role in the upcoming World Cup.

Either way, the general consensus is that he should be there, and once that’s done, he should accept the next offer he gets to move away from the Amex in search of European football.
