Brighton & Hove Albion have Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim leading their list of potential replacements for Roberto De Zerbi, according to claims from Portugal today.
Mais Futebol writes that the Seagulls have a ‘short and specific list’ of managers who could take the Italian’s place in the next season.
It’s said Amorim is ‘one of the main candidates’, as he’s currently ‘heading the list’ of targets that Brighton have.
Mais Futebol state that the Sporting manager is rated by De Zerbi himself, and it’s even claimed the Italian boss would have input on his replacement as he’d want to leave Brighton in a good position.
For now, there’s no information on whether Brighton already made contact with Amorim, and it seems like they’re only listing the men who could take charge of the club next summer.
The Portuguese manager worked at Casa Pia and Braga until joining Sporting in 2020. In his first full season at the Lisbon side, he won their first league title in 19 years. Another major trophy could be won this season, as the Lions currently share the top of the table with Benfica, having played one game less.
This isn’t the first time Amorim has been linked to Premier League clubs, as he was recently pointed out as a potential replacement for Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool.
Ruben Amorim has a €20m exit clause at Sporting CP.
