A couple of claims on Friday morning stated Billy Gilmour had been given permission by Brighton & Hove Albion to travel to Italy and complete a move to Napoli.

His Scotland international teammate Scott McTominay travelled to Naples on Thursday to complete his move from Manchester United, and it’s been repeatedly insisted Antonio Conte wants them both.

Those claims about Gilmour flying out were wide of the mark. He’s still in England, although it does look like Napoli are finally closing in on a deal.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports the midfielder is set to undergo his medical tests in England rather than flying to Italy to do so, likely due to the lack of time now left in the transfer window.

The transfer fee payable to Brighton is put at €14m, which still feels a little on the low side. It would be no surprise if there’s bonuses to be added to that to push it a few million higher for the Seagulls.
