Inter Milan chief Piero Ausilio has watched Alexis Mac Allister in action for Argentina at the 2022 World Cup and given positive reports on the Brighton & Hove Albion player to Simone Inzaghi.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say the Serie A side’s sporting director is in Qatar to monitor a few players and will return to Italy tomorrow with a new name on his agenda.
The Brighton midfielder, who started for Argentina in their 2-0 win over Mexico, has ‘bewitched’ the Inter market man with his quality and tactical intelligence. Ausilio is of the belief the 23-year-old can guarantee stability and balance, if he were to arrive at the San Siro.
Mac Allister has scored five goals from 14 league games for the Seagulls this season. His deal lasts until 2025 and the Premier League side retain an option to extend it by a year.
Gazzetta claim taking the South American away from Brighton will ‘certainly not be easy’ for the Italian club since the predicted asking price of €30m is ‘already very high’ for them.
Where that €30m figure comes from is unknown, but there’s the distinct possibility Brighton would want more.
Inter are aware that negotiating with Brighton for Mac Allister will be difficult, but they will ‘remain vigilant’ about Roberto De Zerbi’s man after Ausilio gathered a positive report on him.
