Kacper Kozłowski is yet to make an appearance for Brighton & Hove Albion and has been out on loan since he joined the Premier League side in January 2022.
The Seagulls let him spend the second half of last season on loan at Union Saint-Gilloise before sanctioning another loan move to Vitesse last summer. Operating on the wings and in the middle of the pitch, he’s managed three goals and five assists from 31 games during the 2022/23 season.
De Gelderlander interviewed the Brighton owned player, where he has opened the door to return to the Dutch club next season. The 19-year-old even revealed the two teams are in talks over another move in the next window.
“Brighton determines the course. But I am absolutely open to a second year at Vitesse, also because the club is going to start the way up again. There are talks between Brighton and Vitesse,” he said.
“I don’t like the Championship. That’s so physical. So much brute force. No way. The Premier League suits me. Pace too. That has become clear to me. And if I stay, it will of course get better at Vitesse, hahaha.”
The Poland international has so far experienced football in his own country, Belgium and in the Netherlands. The versatile player, who has a deal at Brighton until 2026, has now stated this has helped him in his career development.
“I’ve definitely gotten better over the years. Each country has its own style of football and that is reflected in the competitions,” Kozłowski explained.
“Poland is more long ball. Power football. Belgium is more tactical, I think. The Netherlands is open earlier. More tech based. I see that I can handle higher intensity in competitions better. I do more sprints, more kilometers.”
Vitesse picked up 16 points from their last seven league matches, which helped them to get out of the relegation battle comfortably. The Brighton man has now opened up about this experience.
“I had never experienced relegation football. That is different from playing football freely. Mentally very tough. You have to learn to deal with disappointment,” he added.
“I’m still young. I wanted to help the club, but I also needed help. The fact that we then enforce survival, with another beautiful final piece at Feyenoord, that is really important. The mission succeeded.”
