Brighton and Hove Albion full-back Ferdi Kadıoğlu has no intention of returning to Türkiye this summer, or former club Fenerbahçe.

That’s according to journalist Sercan Hamzaoğlu, via Futbol Arena, who reports that the 25-year-old is determined to remain in England.

Kadıoğlu joined Brighton in a €30m deal last summer that could rise to €35m with various bonuses as the Seagulls spent big reshaping their squad.

He arrived after impressing at Fenerbahçe and then Euro 2024, where he earned himself admirers around Europe, particularly in the Premier League.

Brighton eventually moved and secured his signature but his first season in England did not go to plan, with just six appearances in the Premier League and 12% of the available minutes played this season.

That was due to the toe injury he picked up in November, which saw him spend 236 days on the treatment table and miss 33 games for Brighton in all competitions.

It has, though, led to reports that he might cut his time in England short and look to head back to his homeland to get back on track. Hamzaoğlu insists that is not the case.

“Ferdi Kadıoğlu has no intention of returning to Türkiye,” he said.

“He couldn’t play due to his injury, but he recovered. He is preparing for the new season. Ferdi is Fenerbahçe’s son. Maybe our paths will cross in the future, but he wants to stay in England for now.”
