Brighton & Hove Albion have set their sights on Bologna’s Nicolás Domínguez, according to Il Resto del Carlino, via 1000 Cuori Rossoblu.
The midfielder finished the 2022/23 season with three goals and two assists from 31 games. His form and profile seem to have pleased the Seagulls.
It’s stated Brighton are the ‘most interested’ team to secure the 24-year-old’s services in the summer.
The Premier League side’s transfer pursuit is led by their manager, Roberto De Zerbi, who has ‘requested’ his club sign the Argentine. With Alexis Mac Allister set to leave The Amex, his compatriot could replace him at Brighton next season.
Domínguez’s contract expires in 2024 and the Serie A side have offered him a new deal worth €1.5m net per year, which he hasn’t accepted so far.
He’s not close to committing his long-term future to the club. Bologna chiefs Giovanni Sartori and Marco Di Vaio are ‘quite clear’ that at least €20m is needed to part ways with the South American.
Sevilla have shown interest in Domínguez in recent weeks but the possibility of selling him to Brighton ‘obviously attracts’ Bologna from a financial point of view. This could favour the Seagulls, if there’s a potential deal in the summer.
