Brighton & Hove Albion are ‘interested’ in Shakhtar Donetsk trio Mykola Matviyenko, Lassina Traoré and Tetê.
That’s according to Sport.ua from Ukraine, who say that Roberto De Zerbi would not mind bringing the three players from his former club to The Amex.
Following Graham Potter’s decision to leave Brighton in September, the Seagulls appointed the Italian as his successor. The latter returned to management earlier this season, after leaving Shakhtar Donetsk in July.
Last month, the Premier League side appointed Salvatore Monaco as their assistant head of recruitment.
It’s claimed both De Zerbi and Monaco have convinced the Brighton management that the Ukrainian club have quality players ‘capable of seriously strengthening’ the Seagulls. The targets identified are Matviyenko, Traoré and Tetê.
Matviyenko operates as a centre-back, and can also be used as a fullback. The Burkina Faso international plays up front for Shakhtar, while the Brazilian is currently on loan at Lyon.
Tetê is puzzled with his own situation in France after Laurent Blanc took over at the Ligue 1 side in October. The report explains he won’t be against the possibility of making a permanent switch to another club in January.
Sport.ua don’t mention whether Shakhtar are willing to sell the trio, or at least one of them, to Brighton.
