As Brighton & Hove Albion continue to be linked to Brazilian midfielder Maycon, it seems the English club are now actually preparing to make a move for his signing.
It was at the end of October that Seagulls interest was first reported. Back then, it was claimed that Roberto De Zerbi would like to have the player by his side again.
Maycon belongs to Shakhtar Donetsk and is having a loan period at Corinthians. The spell, however, expires next month, and since the Brazilian club have a low chance of being able to pay for his permanent signing, it’s likely the player will end up on the market.
Journalist Jorge Nicola today features a video saying Corinthians already asked about the chances of renewing the deal, and the response from Ukraine was negative.
Shakhtar want to sell, and would like to make a deal for between €7m and €8m. That’s an advantage that Brighton and Porto, who are also interested, would have over the Brazilian club.
It’s said that Seagulls and Dragons have shown the ‘intention of buying’ him and ‘signalled’ that they’ll make an offer in the coming weeks, as their intention is to have him signed in January.
Brighton already have a couple of South American prospects in their midfield, and could apparently have one more soon.
