Brighton & Hove Albion and FC Porto are among the clubs looking at RB Leipzig’s Ilaix Moriba for the summer window, according to Africa Foot.
The midfielder has been on loan at Celta Vigo this season and has made 34 appearances for them.
Brighton have been following the 22-year-old’s performances for the La Liga club closely.
Celta Vigo have a purchase option and if they don’t activate it, Moriba has to return to Leipzig, where he has a contract lasting until 2026.
FC Porto have identified the Guinea international as a priority target and have started talks with his entourage. The report adds they have also made an offer to the former Barcelona man.
Africa Foot say his father, Mamady Kourouma, is also his agent, and he gave an interview to the outlet. The representative has confirmed interest from the Dragons and unnamed clubs from England.
“Yes, I can confirm that Porto has contacted him. We’ve had initial discussions, and discussions are continuing. They’ve made an offer for Ilaix for next season,” he said.
“Two English clubs have also expressed concrete interest. Seeing [Moriba] Kourouma return to his best with Celta Vigo is very gratifying. As a key decision-maker in his career, I’m pleased with this progress.”
Kourouma hasn’t specified the details of the two English clubs and Africa Foot state the Seagulls are one of them.
Brighton haven’t made significant progress yet and have only been monitoring the player. Porto, however, still have to be wary of the competition from the Premier League club.
Leipzig would like to get rid of Moriba permanently and he should make a decision on his future at the end of this season
