Leandro Trossard’s agent has been doing his best to build up the idea of transfer interest in his client, mainly from Arsenal, but now it’s Brighton & Hove Albion who seem closest to sealing a deal.
Back in November, Sporza in Belgium decided to contact Josy Comhair to ask him about interest in the Genk footballer, and the agent said: “I contacted representatives from Arsenal and Tottenham. At Spurs, nobody wanted to confirm that Trossard is an option, but Arsenal did. They told me Leandro has a very interesting profile for them and that they’ve been following him since August.”
In April, he added: “Arsenal could (sign him). But for his career it might be better that he first go to a club like Wolfsburg. If he plays there for two years, he can still go to Arsenal. If he goes straight to Arsenal and you don’t play there, then it might be mentally harder for Trossard.”
Saturday’s edition of HLN says his move to the Premier League could ‘gain momentum’ soon. Brighton are the ‘most important’ suitor for the Genk player and the English club expect ‘rapid development’ on the case.
It can’t be that rapid, because he’s getting married today.
Despite a Brighton offer being rejected last week, contacts continue and it sounds like there’s optimism.
A transfer fee is estimated at €20m, which is around €5m less than some earlier claims.
