On Thursday, Gianluca di Marzio reported on AC Milan’s first bid for Brighton left-back Pervis Estupinan.

It was claimed that the Rossoneri offered only €12m for the Ecuadorian but this amount is significantly less than what the Seagulls want, with Jorge Mendes heavily involved in talks between the two clubs.

More information has been provided by Gazzetta dello Sport today. The newspaper reiterate the €12m offer and indicate Milan want to take advantage of Brighton signing Maxim de Cuyper as a first-choice at left-back, rendering Estupinan as a back-up in the position.

They claim the 27-year-old is keen on moving to Milan and the Italian giants’ understanding of that is making them push for a move.

Despite the offer rejection, there is hope for Milan. Gazzetta report that Brighton have informed Mendes that if a suitable offer arrives, they will sell Estupinan this summer.

Their asking price for the full-back is currently €20m. Max Allegri’s side are not offering this amount as they’re relying on the Ecuador international’s willingness to move to San Siro and on Mendes’ role in the deal.

They have alternatives in mind but Estupinan is currently the key target.
