Brighton and Hove Albion may have been presented with their chance to sign Hertha Berlin talent Ibrahim Maza this summer.

That’s according to BILD, who report that Hertha are likely to be forced into selling the highly rated 19-year-old in the coming months.

The newspaper reports that the financial situation at the 2. Bundesliga club is not the best, with them currently looking down the table rather than up it.

They have accepted that they need to prepare for ‘second division mediocrity’ or the time being and that’s why there’s been a focus on free transfers in recent windows.

The club can only focus on ‘cheap professionals’ and the harsh reality is that high salaries for well known players are no longer an option. They need to lay foundations for the second division first.

And that means they’ll need to sell talented and exceptional players such as Ibrahim Maza and Fabian Reese this summer. In fact, both players ‘must be sold’ according to the newspaper.

That could give Brighton their opportunity as they’ve been chasing Maza for some time. They were first linked in March last year and have regularly been named on a list of Premier League admirers in regular reports since.

With Hertha now forced to sell, now may be their time to move, although they are likely to face competition from the Premier League and around Europe.
