Real Betis have instructed super-agent Jorge Mendes to find suitors for striker Raúl García de Haro, with Brighton & Hove Albion ‘following him closely’.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say García is the ‘most sellable’ asset of the club’s four forwards, which could lead to him departing at the end of the season.
A potential sale would help them to raise funds for other moves and open up space in terms of Financial Fair Play, so they are exploring the possibilities of finding a deal.
At the moment it doesn’t mean they are going to sell him, but they have put the player in the shop window with a starting price of €10m.
They know there is interest in the Premier League, where Brighton have been ‘following him closely’ ahead of what is likely to be a busy summer transfer window for them.
Their interest has been well covered this month, with a report from Spain claiming they were convinced about the striker followed by a report explaining that Betis are aware Brighton are interested in him.
The Spanish side want to take advantage of that and have put the operation in the hands of Mendes and his agency, Gestifute.
They have ‘very good contacts’ in the Premier League and Betis believe their involvement would ‘open even more doors’ and make a deal possible.
No clubs have made a firm move at the moment and the plan is to have all parties sit down and present any offers if or when they arrive.
But the plan for Betis is clear, set Mendes on the case, see what offers may come in, and sell him if they are acceptable.
