Long linked with a potential move to Arsenal, Leandro Trossard could still end up in the Premier League next season, just a bit further down the table.
According to HLN in Belgium, Brighton & Hove Albion have made the first move to sign the winger, putting in a bid ‘earlier this week’, which was refused.
That hasn’t put off the Seagulls, however, as negotiations are still ongoing between the two sides, and the Premier League side are ‘expected to make a second bid’.
Helping Genk win the league, Trossard scored 22 goals and picked up 11 assists in 47 games last season, which has caused the Jupiler Pro League side to slap a €20m asking price on his back.
If Brighton are indeed intent on acquiring the forward’s services, they shouldn’t have too much trouble finding the money down the back of the sofa, having managed to avoid relegation back down to the Championship, finishing two points clear of the relegation zone.
More to come in the next few days, we imagine.
