Brighton and Hove Albion are interested in a move for RB Leipzig defender Angeliño, but face competition from West Ham for his signature.

That’s according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, who says the Seagulls could become a ‘very interesting’ prospect should they sell Marc Cucurella to Chelsea.

The Spaniard has been heavily linked with a move away from Brighton this summer after impressing last season.

Manchester City were chasing his signature but have now pulled away and it is Chelsea who are now keen on a deal.

Should he move to Stamford Bridge it would leave Brighton with a big gap to fill and Plettenberg says they are looking at Angeliño as an option.

He reports that they believe he would be a ‘great replacement’ for Cucurella and the situation could become ‘very interesting’ should the player depart.

West Ham also ‘follow his situation’, with them also looking to add a wing-back to their squad. They’ve been chasing Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic but that deal isn’t progressing and it seems they’re now looking at Angeliño as an alternative.

There is also interest in Germany, with Hoffenheim looking ‘for a big scoop’ via a loan deal, so there’s competition for West Ham and Brighton if they firm up their interest.
