On Wednesday afternoon, the Argentine media reported that Brighton & Hove Albion decided not to let Facundo Buonanotte go to the U-20 World Cup.
Even though his presence in the tournament was supposed to be confirmed following authorisation from Roberto De Zerbi, it was claimed the Seagulls changed their mind and decided he should stay for the final fixtures of the Premier League.
Now the Argentine version of AS features a more complete story on this scenario, claiming there’s an ‘earthquake’ going on around the Brighton player.
According to the story, there’s disagreement regarding the date when Buonanotte would join Argentina’s squad. They wanted him for the preparation for the tournament, which starts on the 20th of May, while the Seagulls only wanted go let him go a day before the competition.
AS claim that even though there’s a ‘minimum possibility’ for the player to go, there’s actually ‘pessimism’ from both sides, especially because of Brighton’s desire to have the player in the final matches. According to the outlet, De Zerbi has big trust in him and expects him to be club’s ‘banner’ in the coming years.
