Brighton, Southampton and Manchester United all had their scouts in attendance at the Estádio do Dragão to watch FC Porto’s 1-1 draw against Vitória de Guimarães on Monday.

That’s according to Tuesday’s edition of O Jogo, who state the league fixture ‘attracted a host’ of foreign clubs including Brighton, Southampton and Manchester United.

Fábio Vieira opened the scoring in the 67th minute, assisted by Gonçalo Borges. Vitória de Guimarães equalised in the 86th minute thourgh Úmaro Embaló’s goal.

Porto took Vieira on loan from Arsenal last summer, and he scored his second league goal of the season yesterday. The newspaper indicates Manchester United have been regularly following Porto’s fixtures this season.

O Jogo add that in addition to the Red Devils, both Brighton and Southampton had ‘sent emissaries’ to the Estádio do Dragão. They make no mention of the players that the three English clubs came to watch.

Bayer Leverkusen and Bologna had also sent their officials to Portugal for Monday’s league fixture.

Last month, Southampton followed Porto’s clash against Gil Vicente and were there to specifically follow Gil Vicente’s Sandro Cruz.
